Navigate the CD – ROM and click on the Welcome app. File.

Installing Adobe Shockwave

There have been instances of Mac users having difficulty TeachMe Interactive CDs even though they are designed to be cross-platform compatible. After considerable efforts we managed to get assistance from Adobe the suppliers of the Director software. (This being the software used to create the CD content).

The problem would appear to be with the version of the Shockwave player required to activate the CD content.

Below you will find step by step instructions on how to install Adobe Shockwave player on a Mac. These instructions have been provided by Adobe and we take no responsibility for damage to you Mac should they be followed incorrectly or otherwise.

Open an new finder window

Go to your local hard disk drive
(usually labelled Macintosh HD)

Double click the Library folder to open it

Double click the Application Support folder to open it

Double click the Adobe folder to open it

Double click the Shockwave Player 11 folder to open it

Create a new folder on you desktop, call it temp

Move everything from the Shockwave Player 11 folder you opened a moment ago into this vew temp folder

Open you web browser and in the URL bar paste the address below: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/shockwave/default/english
/macosx/latest/Shockwave_Installer_Slim.dmg

Press return and a download will begin

Once it is finished, the disk image will mount itself

*NOTE* If you are using a Power PC Mac then use your browser to go to http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/. Scroll down to Shockwave Player and download the Slim installer for Mac OSX 10.4

In the window that appears double click the icon marked Shockwave_Installer_Slim.pkg

The Adobe Shockwave installer should now run

Please follow the on screen instructions

If you are running OSX 10.6.x (Snow Leopard) then you may receive an error message warning you that Shockwave is not compatible with you operating system, just click OK to carry on the installation.

Now that you have the Shockwave software installed you can now insert the TeachMe Interactive disk that you have and double click on the CD that appears on your desktop.

To run the program just double click on the Welcome icon pictured on the left.
